Letter from AMEDS Clinic, Warsaw, Poland

I recently heard about a new clinic opening up called AMEDS, this is a new clinic located in Warsaw, Poland. Not knowing much about them I sent an email to ask them a few questions about their facility. It took about a day to get a which I have posted below.

The highlights I took from it are:

  • 6 – 7 days from arrival to departure
  • Cost not established by expected not to exceed 5000 euro
  • Commencing treatments in March/April 2010
  • Includes Doppler & MRI scan before surgery
  • They can be contacted at:
    Web: http://ameds.pl
    Email: ms@ameds.pl

    Here’s the email in it’s entirety:

    Thank You for Your interest in AMEDS.

    We will be very happy to help You.

    AMEDS is a new project focusing at providing a variety of advanced medical services with participation of highly respected and experienced medical professionals in Poland.

    We are in the process of final formal arrangements aiming at starting the CCSVI medical examination and treatment services anytime between March 1st and April 1st.

    Our goal is to offer the highest possible level of medical service provided at the modern medical facility near Warsaw in Central Poland.

    We are working now to ensure the best possible quality of medical services: developing CCSVI specific detailed medical examination and treatment procedures as well as requirements, training support staff, getting the entire CCSVI center organized.

    Our doctors, technicians, medical support staff as well as patient service personnel are selected to provide the highest possible degree of comfort, convenience, and effectiveness of the treatment for CCSVI patients.

    Unfortunately, until all arrangements are finalized, we are not in position to set up the appointments – this situation should change however within four to six weeks from now.

    Once the service becomes available, we will contact You by mail to give You more information regarding the procedure, pricing, requirements, and available dates for appointments.

    We are aiming at avoiding long waiting lists as the patients with MS cannot be expected to wait indefinitely for treatment.

    Those who express interest in CCSVI examination and treatment now, will be admitted on priority basis.

    From what we know, waiting list at another CCSVI clinic operating in Poland is now longer than 12 months.

    This fact caused us to think about creating new CCSVI examination and treatment center – the AMEDS project, whose ambition is to become the best CCSVI examination and treatment center in Central & Eastern Europe.

    I hope You will bear with us for a period of four to six weeks to set up an appointment for examination and possible treatment. If everything goes well, we would be in position to book You for examination and treatment anytime in April – May of this year.

    The booking would need to be finalized immediately after we start the Phase I of booking procedure which should be taking place before end of March.

    During that time we will try to set up examination and treatment dates for all patients who wrote to us on priority basis. Later on we will set-up dates for people who register on-line.

    If You decide to become our patient, we will pick Your up from the airport and drive directly to the hotel adjacent to the hospital, so You won’t have to worry about finding us.

    Any family members that wish to be with You during Your stay at the /hospital can also be accommodated in that hotel, so they can stay with You for as long as needed.

    Typical schedule for examination and treatment will be as follows:

      DAY 1:

    1. Transportation from the airport;
    2. Doppler + MRI Examination;
    3. DAY 2:

    4. One day break at the hotel adjacent to AMEDS center;
    5. DAY 3:

    6. CCSVI Treatment;
    7. DAY 4:

    8. One day at the hospital bed;
    9. DAY 5:

    10. Follow-up examination (Doppler);
    11. DAY 6:

    12. One day at the hotel adjacent to AMEDS center (for non-European patients);
    13. or

    14. Transportation to the airport (for European patients).
    15. DAY 7:

    16. Transportation to the airport (for non-European patients).

    Points 1, 2, 3, 8/9 are standard for every patient.
    If the patient is diagnosed with treatable CCSVI, then points 4, 5, 6, 7 will happen.

    The final prices are not yet available as we are still in negotiations of certain key cost elements, but the that a total cost for examination and treatment (2 stents) should not exceed 5.000 EUR.

    Please, keep in mind that the exact pricing is not yet established.
    Upon completion of treatment, we will drive You back to the airport.

    If You have daily access to email, You will be contacted with information about the launch of the service and we will make sure that You don’t miss it.

    Also, we are expecting to publish the information on bookings in our soon to be significantly upgraded webpage.

    Should You have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will try address all Your questions promptly.

    I sent them an other email with more questions, I'll let you know the answers...
    They said the operation could be done in june/july... so I can't wait to know if it's good or not!
    it said they will open their door in april!
  • Jesse
    Mathieu,

    Agreed, the concept of having surgery performed is somewhat scary. And no one should just jump in without acknowledging the risks first.

    As far as I know the information presented is about all there is known about this clinic. Since they haven't yet opened their doors to patients there has been no feedback from people who have gone there.

    As a note I just noticed that the website seems to have recently been updated.
  • Mathieu D
    Do you know if someone did some research about this clinic?

    I'm very interested about geting this treatment, and I already sent my name, but I want to be sure not to waist my money, ad i want to be sure the treatment will not be done by a butcher, or waking up without a kidney...

    Very interested but very scared...
  • van mcglothen
    I am extremely excited about the possiblities surrounding this treatment. I am a pianist and MS has robbed me of my ability to perform as an artist. Please include me in any further information given and plans that my come as a result of this miracle finding. Thank you for think of us....Van

    Jenny,

    I don't think they've released their phone number. Try contacting them through the email address provided: ms@ameds.pl
  • Jenny
    Hi!
    I've been diagnosed for the past 8 years and have had symptoms for 18 so very easy to understand that a chance for help is appreciated. I'll simply need the number for an appointement. Thanks
  • Jesse
    Steve,

    I seem to recall reading that this clinic may be connected somehow with Simka, but I'm not 100%. I believe there is at least one other clinic in Polad that is.

    Lise,

    As far as I know there is no priority given to patients based on their condition. It's done on a first come, first serve basis. However, to be certain you can contact the individual clinics directly.
  • Steve
    Does anyone know if the AMEDS Clinic is connected with Dr. Simka?

    Thank you,
    Steve
  • lise

  • Jesse
    You'll have to contact the clinic directly. This site cannot provide guarantees for treatment or any appointments.
  • Jesse
    Sandra,

    The price they stated in the letter was 5000 Euro, which is around $6700 USD.
  • Sandra
    I am Sandra I have MS for ten years Can you tell me price for testing and when I can come for that?
  • Jesse
    Michael,

    You'll need to contact the clinic directly to be included in the priority group. They are planning on setting up a sign up form on their website, however they have yet to do that.

    March/April will be the earliest they will be taking people and I would imagine that by now the time for new people requesting to be added will likely be later.
  • Michael Hart
    please let me know about treatments and times i can get examined and treated asap thank you and god bless
